#hellomynameis… Liz Spice

#hellomynameis… is an inspirational campaign founded by (the late) Dr Kate Granger and her husband Chris Pointon. Initially a social media campaign to encourage and remind health workers in hospitals to be more compassionate by introducing themselves to patients, the campaign has grown and has the backing of 400,000 NHS staff, celebrities, MPs and corporate organisations worldwide all showing their support for a good first introduction.

If you haven’t heard of the campaign, I actively encourage you to look here, especially if you work alongside the vulnerable and the sick. Chris continues to keep the campaign alive by touring, presenting and of course through social media. Their work is totally inspiring and does resonate back to one of my previous blogs: What’s your life story?

In my experience so far at St James’ Hospital, Leeds – the care, respect and compassion shown towards me as a patient from all staff has been incredible. I have never felt like I was being talked over or ignored regardless of the hour of the day. Long may it continue 😍.

As part of this campaign at my work an NHS employee is “introduced” each week via our intranet and I was asked to partake in this amazing campaign which I did so willingly. See the excerpt below 😘

Be the change you wish to see in the world“. Gandhi
